What does the acknowledgment of debt cover?

What default interest and costs apply to late payment in commercial transactions?
For commercial transactions, Directive 2011/7/EU names default interest at the reference rate plus at least 8 percentage points (Art. 2(6)) and a minimum fixed sum of EUR 40 for recovery costs (Art. 6(1)). Whether these values apply to your claim depends on the individual case.
Which payment period applies if nothing has been agreed?
Between undertakings, statutory interest becomes due 30 calendar days after receipt of the invoice if no payment date is fixed (Directive 2011/7/EU, Art. 3(3)(b)(i)). Contractually agreed periods may not exceed 60 calendar days, unless otherwise expressly agreed and not grossly unfair to the creditor (Art. 3(5)).
