Frequently asked questions

What notice period applies to an employment contract?
It depends on the country. Germany: the basic statutory notice period is four weeks, to the 15th or the end of a calendar month — BGB § 622 Abs. 1, as of 1993. Austria: for employer notice to salaried employees the base is six weeks, with a maximum of five months after 25 years of service — Angestelltengesetz (AngG) § 20 Abs 2, as of 2026. Cyprus: statutory minimum notice applies only after 26 weeks of continuous employment, starting at 1 week and rising to 8 weeks from 312 weeks of employment — Termination of Employment Law 24/1967 Article 9, as of 2026.
Which law applies to a cross-border employment contract?
Within the EU, the parties can choose the applicable law — Regulation (EC) No 593/2008 (Rome I) Art. 3(1), as of 2009. The choice may not deprive the employee of the protection of the mandatory rules of the law that would otherwise apply — Regulation (EC) No 593/2008 (Rome I) Art. 8(1), as of 2009. Without a choice, the law of the country in or from which the employee habitually carries out the work applies — Regulation (EC) No 593/2008 (Rome I) Art. 8(2), as of 2009.
How many hours can be worked per week?
Austria: 8 hours a day and 40 hours a week as standard working time — Arbeitszeitgesetz (AZG) § 3, as of 2026. Portugal: at most 8 hours a day and 40 hours a week — Código do Trabalho art. 203.º, as of 2026. France: the statutory working week is 35 hours, and hours beyond it are overtime — Code du travail art. L3121-27, as of 2016. Spain: at most 40 hours a week as an annual average — Estatuto de los Trabajadores art. 34.1, as of 2015.

Why DUOLEXX instead of just asking an AI?

An AI writes text fast. That doesn't make it legally sound, bilingual and ready to sign. That's exactly the difference.

Grounded in local law

Every document follows the law of the chosen country — researched clauses, not a generic template from the web.

Authoritative language + translation

The binding version in the legal language, alongside an understandable translation. A chat rarely delivers both, soundly, at once.

Verifiable signature

Two-party signature with a SHA-256 integrity proof — provable that both signed the same wording.

Finished, not just text

PDF, signature, archive and share link in one flow — an AI chat only hands back raw text.
