Can the landlord require a security deposit?

How long can a bail mobilité last?
From 1 to 10 months (loi n° 89-462, art. 25-14). It is neither renewable nor tacitly extendable; the term may be changed once by amendment, provided the total duration does not exceed ten months (loi n° 89-462, art. 25-14).
Who can enter into a bail mobilité and under what conditions?
At the start date, the tenant must show a mobility situation (relocation, assignment, studies, etc.) and the dwelling must be furnished (loi n° 89-462, art. 25-12). These provisions are mandatory public-order rules (loi n° 89-462, art. 25-12). The tenant may terminate at any time with one month's notice (loi n° 89-462, art. 25-15).
Which law governs the bail mobilité and how are charges settled?
The bail mobilité is governed by loi n° 89-462, art. 25-12 to 25-18 (regime created by the loi ELAN) (loi n° 89-462, art. 25-12). Rental charges are recovered as a fixed lump sum paid with the rent (loi n° 89-462, art. 25-18). This is general information and not legal advice.
